Current Situation

  • Power Outages: 75% of Florida's power is restored. Full restoration is expected by Tuesday evening. Approximately 818,000 customers still lack electricity.

  • Fuel Shortages: 33% of Florida gas stations are without fuel, with nearly 88% of stations in Tampa affected. Six more fuel distribution sites are opening soon.

  • Flooding: Rising rivers continue to flood areas in Tampa Bay and Sanford.

Impact and Response

  • At least 17 deaths have been reported from Hurricane Milton, compared to over 200 from Hurricane Helene. More people evacuated ahead of Milton, reducing casualties.

  • Estimated insured losses from Milton range between $30 billion and $60 billion.

  • President Biden has approved federal aid and announced $612 million for six utility projects in affected areas. His administration seeks additional funds from Congress to address potential future disasters.

Tampa Bay

Activate Hope, part of the Hope Florida initiative, connects residents with private, nonprofit, and government resources for disaster recovery. Fill out the request form for assistance with food, home repairs, and more.

For FEMA aid due to Hurricane Helene, apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov, use the FEMA app, or call 1-800-621-3362 for support with lodging, home repairs, and other expenses.

The American Red Cross has an online Reunification Portal for finding loved ones, and the Disaster Legal Hotline is available at 833-514-2940 for legal assistance.

Samaritan's Purse offers free help with property cleanup and more. Call 833-747-1234 for details.

Submit a Disaster Unemployment Assistance claim at FloridaJobs.org if your employment was impacted by Hurricane Helene.

For mental health support, contact the Disaster Distress Helpline at 800-985-5990 or text ‘talkwithus’ to 66746.

Hillsborough County

The Tampa Emergency Hotline is available from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. for questions about Hurricane Milton recovery at 833-TPA-INFO (872-4636).

Residents should fill out the Hurricane Damage Reporting Form to connect with local recovery resources.

Those displaced by Hurricane Milton may qualify for temporary hotel assistance. Call 813-675-3450 for eligibility details.

Storm debris collection is underway in affected neighborhoods. Place debris curbside without blocking roads or drains.

Feeding Tampa Bay is organizing emergency feeding stations in Hillsborough and Manatee Counties. Follow their social media for updates.

Pasco County

Shelters are open for those needing refuge due to flooding. Visit MyPasco.net or call 727-847-2411 for a shelter list.

Dispose of storm-related yard debris at two solid waste facilities or at the curb for county pickup. Locations are:

  • East Pasco Transfer Station, Dade City (7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

  • West Pasco Resource Recovery, Spring Hill (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

Pinellas County

For storm inquiries, contact the County Information Center from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 727-464-4333. Deaf or hard of hearing residents can use bit.ly/PinellasChat.

A Point of Distribution at 18200 Gulf Blvd., Redington Shores, offers free meals, water, and tarps daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Two Health and Wellness Centers are open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at:

  • Rubonia Community Center, Palmetto

  • Island Branch Library, Holmes Beach

Points of Distribution at Blackstone Park, GT Bray Park, and Kingfish Boat Ramp offer meals, water, and tarps until 8 p.m.

Polk County
